Vestibular Assessment (Behavioural / C-VEMP / O-VEMP)
Investigates dizziness, vertigo and imbalance originating in the balance organ.
About this service
The inner ear governs balance as well as hearing. This assessment combines positional and behavioural balance testing with Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials, which measure reflex responses in neck muscles (cervical VEMP) and around the eye (ocular VEMP) to determine whether the otolith organs and their nerve pathways are working. It is the appropriate work-up for recurrent vertigo, unsteadiness and unexplained falls.
